PWRR marks Sobraon Day in Paderborn

The 1st Battalion The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment have marked Sobraon Day at their home base in Paderborn. Sobraon Day marks the actions of Sgt Bernard McCabe at the Battle of Sobraon in 1846.

The 2nd Battalion, The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment’s two-year-long tenure on the Blue Line, as the commitment to ceremonial duties is known, came to an end with Z Company, 2 PWRR, completing the guards for Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London and Windsor Castle.

Corporal Johnson Beharry VC carries the Olympic Torch for the West Midlands and Staffordshire leg. Johnson Beharry has been awarded the Victoria Cross for saving members of his unit on a double occassion in 2004.

Corporal Johnson Beharry VC carries the torch at the National Memorial Arboretum on Armed Forces Day. Cpl Beharry of the 1st Battalion The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, was awarded the Victoria Cross for twice saving members of his unit from ambushes in Iraq in 2004.
